Replacing RAM and HD

Hey everyone,

I am about to buy a new Macbook Pro w/5400 rpm HD.

However, I want to upgrade it to 4GB Ram and a 7200 HD.

The question is this...

would I be able to take the OEM ram and HD and stick it into my Dell M1210? I've been wanting to upgrade the Dell M1210, and thought just sticking the OEM RAM and HD from the Apple could work, but not sure if it will be compatible (especially the RAM).

Another quick question... I know that replacing the RAM doesn't void the Macbook Pro's warranty, but does replacing the HD void the warranty?

The HD...absolutely...although you will more than likely need an adapter to connect it to your Dell. The RAM...no way.

As long as the Dell has a SATA hard drive, yes. As for the memory, you'll need to check to make sure it's the same, but from a casual glance it appears to be.

<Sigh>

This gets asked so many times it's frightening. Changing out your hard drive will NOT void your warranty. Damage incurred as a result of the swap will not be covered.
