replacing the battery

I leaning towards getting my first mac but I have one question

If I wanted to replace the battery in a MBP, can I have it done at the apple store instead of shipping it in? Is it just the on time fee of $129+tax or are there "labor costs" I don't know about?

and another question

is there a way to share an external hard drive between a mac and pc or is there an incompatibility due to formating?

Yes you can have it replaced at the Apple Store. The $129 includes labor, but doesn't include tax.
