I've seen threads aplenty about installing SSDs into various iMacs, but I haven't come across whether one can replace the Apple-installed SSD in my CTO Mid-2010 iMac 27". I spec'd it with an Apple-branded 250GB SSD and a second 2TB (Hitachi) HDD.

Knowing me, at some point, I'd like to move up to a larger SSD, say in the 400-600GB range. Perhaps an Intel. Since the "correct" SSD drive mounting and cabling is already installed, is it just a matter of 'cloning and swapping', or are there other issues to consider? (Not sure if the temperature sensor issue applies to an SSD).

Its something that can be easily swapped out without having any baring on the system. No temp sensor, etc. Should be a fairly painless upgrade.

Thanks! That's what I was hoping. Now, selecting a drive is a different matter. From what I've been reading, reliability with these drives seems to be all over the map!
