Replacing UI Elements (Theming) without Winterboard

So this JB I am trying to avoid using Winterboard, as I do minimal theming. I am trying to use my favorite dialer, RetroDialer, and replaced the appropriate .pngs in the MobilePhone.app folder directly with SSH. This gave me only the bar with the add contact, call and delete buttons, with the rest of the dialer screen remaining stock. I then replaced the two dialerkeypad .pngs in the MobilePhonePackedImages.artwork file as I did not see one file in there for the dialerlcd, which got me to the screen shot you see. The damn dialerlcd.png at the top is being difficult, and it looks pretty crappy being all blue. Any ideas?

And while I'm at it, anyone know how to install the Wide Sliders without Winterboard?
