Does anybody know anything about replacing this icon? I did a bit of research and it said you have to delete two lines of code from a file in the weather application, but the file i have doesn't have these two lines anyway, so none of the instructions i have found on this forum or google have helped :( i would appreciate it if someone could help me out here, i must be doing something wrong :( anyone fancy writing some quick instructions to help me out? :p

Thanks to anyone who can help!

make sure the icon is 60x60 pixels and that the icon is named icon.png then stp into the ipod and drop icon.png into the weather.app folder (that's probably not the name, but it would be something like that) and have it replace the previous icon.png that was already in the weather.app folder.

Now restart your ipod.

Remember to back up your weather.app folder before you change anything.

Just tried it, and it still has that stupid standard weather icon, any other ideas?

I tried it, and many others, and its not working :( Heres the icon im trying to use:

iconeu9.png

Would it help if i took a screen shot of the file systems or anything? :S im really confused! It should be working, but if you google it loads of people have trouble changing the weather icon, but they can usually fix it, but i cant!

you could try creating a summerboard theme. i changed mine through that

Thanks, i could, and would have to google up on how to do that, but surely it shouldn't be to hard to just change the weather icon?

just have a folder called whatever you want the theme to be called, then within that have a folder called "icons" and inside that have the icon, and name it "Weather.png" then SSH it inside /Library/Summerboard/Themes, then choose that theme in SMBPrefs

Yep, i just tried this and it wont work :( im guessing nobody has heard about this before, its a problem with the weather icon, because it is actually not where a normal icon would be. i also heard that its a problem to anyone who has the weather set to celsius (anyone outside the US) I also tried replacing icon.png in the weather app folder, but this didnt work {(although logically it should)

Yeah with all non US iPhones (and the iPod touch if you have the iPhone apps) you have to change another .png.
Here's the thread that tells you how.

I found that thread before, they say the solution is:

Try deleting following 2 lines in /Applications/Weather.app/Info.plist
Then you will be happy.

<key>SBIconClass</key>
<string>SBWeatherApplicationIcon</string>

But i dont have those two lines of code, mine are different! :(

Are you editing it in Property List Editor?
All you have to do is open the Info.plist in PLE and then open the Root portion, select SBIconClass and hit delete at the top of the window.
Save it and replace the exiting Info.plist on the Touch.
Hope that helps

I was using a internet site that was recommended that converted it to a readable file, and then i tried to edit it. Do you know where i can download property list editor? I tried googling it and couldnt find a download, but found lots of info on it.

Thanks for your help!

All right i got property list editor, deleted the line of code the put that on my ipod. Now i have tried replacing icon.png in the mobilefinder>applications.weather.app but it hasn't changed the springboard icon. I have also tried putting the weather.png icon in my themes icon folder, but that also didn't work. Where am i supposed to put the icon now?

Thanks agin for your help!

Actually guys dont worry, i just did a fresh install of weather, and made the changes. Now i have a nice new weather icon!

Thanks everyone, i would have never got it without your great help! :D

I choose the one I posted above, goes really well with the theme, rather than that rubbish standard one!
