hello there,

most likely, ill have to replace the original superdrive in my
powerbook g4 1.5ghz 12".

ive seen a few quite expensive drives around (about $100) but the "usual" way isnt MY way because i bought that book as a used one for $520 and dont see the need to spend fourth of the price for a new superdrive. so i thought of replacing it with either a used drive or a new, updated drive (with DL-support). i think there must be some third-party devices, suitable for the PBG4 but not
as expensive as an original one. tipps and ideas, anybody?

thanks.

I believe mcetech makes a pretty good replacement. Avoid the original "matshita" drives like the plague. Do not buy a used superdrive, especially one from apple.

You will probably not find a cheap, high quality drive on the market.

By the way, the mce drive is DL.
