requirements for gba emulation?

i got a powermac G4 1.2ghz machine and it struggles playing gba games what can i do to speed things up?

also i am still using the stock 7 year old hdd if it matters could that have something to do with it?

If you have a low amount of RAM, you could install more. I'm not exactly sure how RAM intensive emulation is, but I'm pretty sure it's not easy on the RAM. If it's as low as 128 MB or so, more RAM will speed everything up.
