Res question

I'm sure its someplace already, but I couldn't find the answer here...

If I set a 15" retina to the res of 1680x1050....is it still benefiting from the retina display, or is it effectively the same as the standard 15" MBP.

Its still retina, all the way up to 1920x1200.

Standard 15" is actually 1440x900.
