I am currently a freshman in college, and have wanted to invest in an iPad for this school year. I will be taking 2 years off of school after I am finished with this year, and I would like to get some opinions on what the resell value of a good quality iPad 2 will be mid 2013. I have a guy that will sell me his nearly new iPad 2 16gb for $350 (Including case and smart cover), which seems like a great deal. Any thoughts on what I can sell this for say...June of next year, if I decide to make the plunge?

Thanks in advance for the help, this is my first post on MacRumors.

$8

kidding, but iPads aren't normally an investment.
by then it may/likely be 2 versions old. sure it will work but all the hype will be on the latest and greatest version with the Lightning Port.

Have parents that would like one? if you got half what you paid for it would be a decent deal for you. (my thoughts)

or you can have one to give to a friend/child? Wipe and donate?

<sorry this hasn't been too helpful>

I hope it would be more than $8! I appreciate your thoughts though. I'm thinking that if I could even sell it for $225-$250 range it would be worth my money for the next year. Is that range being too optimistic?

always check the amazon trade in store, you can get good deals there, right now a first gen wifi only 32 GB IPad can get 250 so i would expect the same for an ipad 2 next year

By 2013, I would think it would be in the ballpark of $250, since its about $120-125 more than that currently. Remember that the announcement of a future iPad will cause a noticeable drop in resell value for all other models each time. :)
