Last night I reserved an iPhone 3GS at my local Apple store. I am currently an ATT customer, but I do NOT have an iPhone 3G, nor am I under any type of contract. I am currently doing month to month on a random phone.

When I made my reservation online, it only gave me the option to reserve the 32GB at $499.

Now, seeing that I do not have a 3G, nor am I under a contract of any type...I should be eligible for the $299 subsidized price as long as I sign a 2 year contract, correct?

Will I be able to explain this to Apple when I go to pick up my reserved iPhone? How would I sign that 2 year contract AT the apple store?

They will see what you just saw ($499). They are like an AT&T reseller now. They can't really change you account info or price info no matter what you tell them. Best bet is to go to an AT&T store instead
