Reserve a specific model or just try on?

Did anyone figure out how to reserve a specific model to buy on launch day or was it only appointments to try on? I pre ordered and got an appointment. If reservations can be made at the appointment I am going to try for that

I am trying to figure this out too they say they have a new system called Reserve and Pickup but in the end it did not show up what so ever on the site or the apple app.
