I've been trying solve an iwork/icloud syncing issue with my iphone 4 and ipad 3g (ios 5.1.1) and I ran into a VERY odd and VERY frustrating glitch in the ios. I followed some advice to use the "reset all settings" feature. The first time I tried it I got exactly the expected result: settings reset to default but nothing was eliminated from the ipad. However, I tried again last night and got a totally different result: it wiped the ipad and required a total restore from icloud backup!
Now, I know you are thinking "must have accidentally hit 'erase all content' instead." Nope. I carefully as always clicked "reset setting" AND carefully read each of the two warnings to be sure. It specifically said "this will reset all settings. no data or media will be deleted." But in fact all media WAS deleted and the whole ipad had to be restored (and I lost a number of work movies that were manually managed (grrrrrr!).
Anyone else experience this? What the heck is going on? Between this and icloud/iwork not functioning I'm getting really frustrated with Apple products/service and am wondering if I somehow got a faulty device...
