Reset Firewire & USB ports...?

Why would they need to be reset? I have never heard of anyone doing such a thing on a PC or a Mac
I think you're looking for instructions for a PRAM reset. Hold down the option+
+'P'+'R' while starting up the computer, wait until you hear the startup chime 3 times then release. @ Roy: this reset sometimes allows external devices which were not detected or visible in the System Profiler to appear.
