Reset phone and restore watch

I want to reset my phone and set it up as a new phone without using my backup. If I do this, is it possible to restore my watch data or is it not possible?

I have a lot of crap on my phone and thought it would be a good idea to start it with a fresh install, but I want my watch data.

Not sure but you may just do a basic icloud backup.... i am doing a similar thing... i think icloud backups have apple watch backups.....
