My MG5350 canon printer is reading 'Full absorption pad' and I am trying to reset the counter to zero. I can get the printer into service mode and I've obtained the service tool via Virtual Box and Windows 10. The service tool page opens OK but it won't recognise the printer. I think this may be because I have the printer on both USB and wi fi and so I need to take it off wi fi. I have the list of wi fi on my Ventura Mac but I'm not sure which to delete. I'm assuming that it is WPA3 Personal, so would it be the one named John_2019?

The list shows the routers wi fi - Vodafone, and my other printer, the TS. How do I find out what the others refer to?

They are my networks - I just don'y know to what they refer. One must be for the printer, but which one?

You need to look at your printer's documentation to determine what network it's connected to. You can't determine this by looking at the list of available networks.

from Canon support page -

PIXMA MG5350 Wireless Network settings confirmation

  1. Make sure that your printer is turned on.
  2. Load a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper.
  3. Press & hold the Resume/ Cancel button until the alarm lamp flashes 15 times, and then release it.
The network information page will be printed.
That network information page will show you what network your printer is using. But, I suspect that you cannot print when you have that "full absorption pad" message on the printer.
Is that correct?
So, that begs the question: Have you already replaced the waste ink pad?

Maybe this video will help you reset the counter - provided you have already replaced the waste ink absorber pad (or the waste ink tank, whichever it is that your printer uses.)

Thanks. The message can at the moment be overridden by the OK button. I have details of how to change the pad but it does require considerable dismantling of the machine. One suggestion was that the counter displays the pad full message after a certain number of counts - not necessarily when the pad is full. So I intend to reset the counter and place the printer on a tray for the moment.

I followed your instruction and presses the resume button but it only flashed eleven times.

OK - I have the network settings, which I got from the Canton utility tool. How to I disconnect the printer from wi fi?

Thanks - I found it in the settings menu on the printer screen. Wi fi is now disabled. Now to see if the tool works!
Thank you for your help.
