Hi guys and gals would you be so kind as to help me reset the default system name. Ive purchased another Imac and it still has the original users details.

Im don't mean the home folder user, its the system name.

Is there a tool or easy way to change this please.:)

Can you create a new user with Admin power. Login to that user and delete the original one? It's all under user groups in system preferences.

I would recommend wiping the disk and reinstalling. You don't know what garbage the previous owner left on the disk nor do you know how they modified OS X.

However if I understand what you're asking, what you're looking for is in System Preferences->Sharing.

thanks guys

so under sharing i see i can change name.
many thanks.
