Hey guys, I have sort of a vague question to ask, and I know it's not exactly specific to this forum but you've helped me with a lot of other problems so I just figured I'd see if you had any ideas and advice! You see, my uncle just bought a new computer that came with Windows Vista pre-installed, and it was working just fine until he let the battery run out. He plugged it in and turned it on, only to realize that he now completely forgets his password! We've tried everything he might use, to no avail, so I'm thinking that he probably mis-typed it or something. Anyways, we've tried going through Vista's Password Reset wizard, but it keeps telling him that he needs to install a password reset disc, which evidently didn't come with his computer. (No discs came with it, actually, not even a copy of Windows, which I thought was strange). My question is, do you know if there's any other way of going around that and resetting the password? Should his computer have come with backup and/or password reset discs? Also, he says there isn't any type of Guest account he can log in to, which I also thought was strange. Then again, I'm a Mac person and have had very little experience with Vista.
Anyways, I know this is a very vague and slightly off-topic question to ask here, but I'd really appreciate any help!
p.s. His computer is a Sony Vaio that he bought at Best Buy, if that helps at all. I wish I knew he was buying one, or else I would have told him to go with Apple!
