Hi everyone! I'm attempting to wipe my M1 MacBook Air. I'll be reinstalling Ventura. Using the Erase Assistant, I come to a screen where it wants me to enter the password for an old Apple ID I quit using in April of 2022. The old email is displayed which is no longer accessible. I have no idea what the password was for that old Apple ID. I've been using the new Apple ID since 4/2022 with no issues. I purchased my MacBook Air in April of 2023 so the old Apple ID was never entered into it.

I'm completely confused as to why it is asking me for the password for an Apple ID I haven't used in a year and a half. Can any of you Mac gurus help me out?

The only reason the MBA would be asking for that Apple ID password is if the MBA was set up using said Apple ID and was the current Apple ID of record for the MBA. If you try to erase that Mac without properly removing the requested Apple ID and Find My, the MBA will be activation locked. If that is in fact your Mac, you need to take your MBA and proof of purchase to the Apple Store and have them assist you.
