got a g4 desktop from a moving sale and when it starts up it asks for a password but i don't know it and don't have any idea who the original owner was they never said anything about password... is there a way to bypass to system settings to turn it off so I can use this computer or a way to add another user profile???

Another option, if you have the resources available to you, is to get an OSX Leopard or Tiger operating system disc and do a clean install.

I had bought a mac once that was password locked. Put in my Leopard install disc to boot from, erased the hard drive, fresh install and it was like a new (but old) mac again :D
