So this monster has been sticking around my trash can for a few days. He steadfastly refuses to be binned. I "empty trash", as well as "Empty Securely", but he just sits there grinning at me after umpteenth attempts to get rid of him.

Rebooting my comp dsnt help as well. Any had this?

Have you used any removable media lately like a USB stick or something?

Usually these files are an alias/shortcut to a file on said USB stick but as the USB stick is not available to 'erase from' then the file will stick around until the USB stick is re-insterted and Empty Trash is performed.

Remember a USB doesn't erase trash like a normal harddrive. If you move stuff to the trash and then remove the USB without emptying the trash the file on the USB stick will remain hidden until Empty Trash is performed with the USB stick inserted.
