resize display

Hello, is there some way to resize display/screen from 20inch to e.g. to 17inch on imac osx tiger ? ty

Do you mean the resolution? If so, take a look at System Preferences > Displays and change the resolution to your liking.

Or do you mean something else entirely?

I mean actually to transform 20inch into 17inch monitor so the rest inches would be black. Something like when you are resizing screen on regular monitor with those buttons on it but imac doeasnt have any.

Maybe take a look at SwitchResX (http://www.madrau.com/whatis/whatis.html), it even has older versions to download.
