Resizing Audio Files

I have just saved a file from Itunes to my phone but the phone is saying that the file is too big to use as a ring tone. Does anyone know how to resize or cut MP3s possibly through Itunes or Garage Band?

For sound editing, try Amadeus or Audacity, also Quicktime.

Thanks, I have Quicktime Player is that the same thing? I am not sure how to do the sound editing in there. Do you have any advise?
