resizing in final-cut compressor

i have a 1024x768 custom size time line
need to make an mpeg-2
when i open the final-cut compressor,
it doesn't let me keep this scale! it automatically
changes the scale to a built-in setting.

the dimensions tab in the geometry inspector are grayed out...

help?
