Resizing Jpegs

I am looking for a program that will allow me to easily resize jpegs (in inches, so I know how much space it will take on a printed sheet of paper). I used to use a program called Irfan and was wondering if there is a feature of iPhoto that also accomplishes this. Thanks.

Don't know about iphoto, but I'm pretty sure the gimp will do the trick.
