I'm looking at the new Macbook Pro, but I can't understand why the resolution is kind of low. My friend has about a year old 15 inch lenovo laptop with a 1920x1600 resolution. Whats up with that?

Next time, please try doing your own homework.

Calm down champ. In your hastiness to insult the OP, you didn't even read his question correctly.

To the OP:

I agree with you, and there are a few other threads on this. There should be a 1920x1200 option for the 15", or at least 1680x1050. But while apple are great innovators, they don't often have many BTO choices for the smaller groups who want them. Matte displays are almost gone (only left in the 17" MBP for now), only one graphics card option and screen resolutions are fixed. Bummer. Write them a letter and decide what is worth more to you. On a sidenote, psystar is supposedly working on OS X clone notebooks on the cheap... maybe they will serve your needs better.
