Ok, I am going to probably sound like a newb with this one. But if your laptop native resolution is 1280 by 800 native, but you have a 22" monitor at 1680 by 1050 will the laptop push that resolution to the monitor? From what I've read of the card it will handle that, but on the supported resolutions for it, it only goes up to 1280x800.

So, which reso will I get when hooked up externally?

Native resolution is a property of the display panel. So if your video card can handle it, it should display properly. (you might need to set the resolution manually though)

How would one go about doing this manually for mac/vista because it sure isnt' showing up in the display panel as an available resolution

Hmmm, if you've hooked your monitor up to the computer, you should be able to go to System Preferences > Displays and select the resolution. If that's not the case, I'm not sure whats going on.:(
