was just wondering how much increasing the resolution affects performance whilst gaming?
As i have just purchased a new monitor, i am wondering how much performance will be affected due to the increased resolution of 1440x900 > 1920x1080 (what i plan to game at).
It is with my unibody macbook pro, it currently plays games such as Test drive unlimited and left4dead at 1440x900, at full settings etcetc.
Anyone have any ideas how much this will affect performance?
As i have heard it does not affect it so much, or will i have to knock some textures and such down?
Thankyou :):apple:

At max settings, that will definitely drop at least 10 (if you're lucky) or more frames per second.

But since you're purchasing a monitor, it uses up even more power. (e.x. 1440x900 on laptop screen performs better than 1440x900 using an external monitor)

ahh i see.
Well ill do what i can, and ill certainly disable the internal screen when gaming.
Well, wish the the best (this external monitor business seems to be a minefield) and ill post a new thread with problems/review when i get it.
Thanks for your replies :)

The mbp has the 9600m gt ddr3. I would stay at 1440x900 for l4d. You can bump it up to 1680x1050 but is might drop to unplayable fps during heavy action.
