Im on a MBP and I have BTT installed but not configured what so ever. Im not sure if this is by design or a bug;
Go in the System Preferences > Trackpad > More Gesture, you have to have "Swipe Between Pages" set to either "swipe left or right with three fingers" or "swipe left or right with two or three fingers" selected to be able to go BACK/FORWARD in Finder, Chrome or Firefox.
HOWEVER
If you then activate "Three Finger Drag" in POINT & CLICK settings then "Swipe Between Pages" will revert back to "scroll left or right with two fingers" which doesn't allow Finder, FF or Chrome to be able to go BACK/FORWARD.
LONG STORY SHORT
Leave "Three Finger Drag" off and set "Swipe Between Pages" set to either "swipe left or right with three fingers" or "swipe left or right with two or three fingers"
UPDATE 07.21.11-11:59am
If you want the old style Double Tap to Drag back follow these steps;
System Preferences > Universal Access >Mouse & Trackpad > Trackpad Options
*Check the "Dragging" box and select "with Drag Lock"
*See the 3rd screenshot
