Problem:
Installing OSX Snow Leopard DVD on MacBook OSX 10.4 results in "Installer could not copy necessary support files" error.

Solution:
Install from external hard drive.

Pop your DVD in the drive
Open Disk Utility
Click on the DVD on the left
Select "New Image"
Select the Compressed option (will generate a DMG file)
Save it to your desktop
This will take some time


Follow these instructions for creating a boot disk partition on an external drive. (partitioning a drive will blow away data on the drive you are using). This guy outlines the steps here
