Ok, have just recieved my new MBP which is replacing my old one and I want to move some stuff across. I didnt want to use the migration tool as there is a lot of junk I dont want on the new one (the old one was my first mac so installed all sorts of crap). I want to move my iphotos library across to the new one - is it just as simple as copying across the iPhoto Library folder from the old to the new? I have read about burning discs etc but it is 11gb so would rather just copy it across the network.

I'd have thought just moving your pictures folder across would be enough (though copying any preference files with iPhoto in the name is probably sensible too).

Ok - that worked :)

Copied across the iPhotos Library to the Pictures folder on the new mac, then copied across the com.apple.iPhoto.plist from ~/Library/Preferences and its all working fine - excellent!
