Called them and they said yes. They also let me do this back in 2009 for my white 3GS for a black one.

So if your local Radioshack gets the white iPhone 4, they should let you trade.

I called Radioshack in Laguna Niguel, CA.

You don't know what you're talking about

is this so? like did you just buy your black phone in the past 30 days?

No but they said as long as the phone is in excellent condition and you have the charger. I did this exact thing 2 years ago with my 3GS. So hopefully they let us do it again.

I think we need more information than your giving. I called radioshack and they acted like I was high asking for a contract free trade

You probably just mean that Radioshack will give you some $200 gift card for your black iPhone 4 and then you will use that + your upgrade to buy a white iPhone 4 on a 2 year contract...

I asked "Hi, I have a black iPhone 4 that is fully functional, and would like to trade it for a white one." "The black one I'm using is a replacement from Apple about 2 months ago, I have all accessories and the box, can I trade it for a white one? I don't care about the box or anything."

They said "Yes, If we have it in stock, this can be allowed."

"When will you have it in stock?"

"Tomorrow, but a limited supply." They said.

Edit: I just called both of the RadioShacks in Laguna Niguel and both of them said the most they will give as a trade in for a 32gb iPhone 4 black in mint condition is $320, then you purchase the white iPhone 4 for full retail price of $600-700

Looks so far like the Radioshack employee was busy and just gave you the answer you wanted to hear in order to get off the phone. Wouldn't trust it at all...

i think they give you store credit and then you can use that credit to buy white iphone from them; but what will happen to your ATT contract? do you need to sign for another 2 years or are you have to purchase at full price (minus the store credit)?

Called 4 different local radioshacks and this does not exist. I already knew that prior to calling because it's just stupid logic. As a company, why would you give someone a brand new iPhone for a used one. No logic behind this.

It does exist; you can go to their website and they offer trade-in program where you can trade-in your old electronic gadgets. For iphone 4 in mint condition, they give you $320 in-store credit and then you can use that in-store credit to buy new iphone at full price (which is understandable).

I just did this at my local wine cellar.. They were out of red when I went in, they said drink the white and come back, we will trade you the empty bottle for some red . Company's do this all the time...

Alright, thank you for calling too. Too good to be true :(

That's still not a direct trade. They are not going to give you a brand new phone for a used phone that they can only sell as refurb at best.

I know about the in-store trade in... but there is no option for you to hand over your iPhone 4 (Black) and they hand you a brand new iPhone 4 (White) as the OP said. It does not exist.

Yeah you can use the trade in option but you're still paying a few hundred for it. I'm pretty sure a lot of stores do this, not just radioshack.

yeah thats what i said; need to pay the full price (which would be $300-$400 depending on which version you get, after deducting in-store credit).

Yeah I know. In my original post I just meant the scenario the OP stated does not exist.

You stated you've done this before.
Is that comment also "resolved"?

No, I was able to do this 2 years ago. I don't know why it changed. And I wouldn't lie about that.

Edit: Like how everyone gives me a "negative" for my posts. Cute.
