Has anyone seen this
http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/07/08/apple_iphone_o2_email/

according to this guy 13,000 orders per second resulting them to be sold out in a few hours. BUT they said 200,000 expressed an interest !

13,000 orders a second means
780,000 orders a minute
46.8 million an hour

Where did the other people come from... If this is what we are up against we are doomed from the start.

I challenged a CS guy on this earlier today - told him that this *might* be the peak number of server requests but unless they were taking worldwide and inter-galactic orders their management were either stupid or liars.

Sorry for reposting :(

I wonder did me mean 13K orders via the site that day ? would that be more realistic ? given it was https traffic what server could cope with that.

I want to see the DHL driver's face when he gets his schedule and it says

Chiswick
Folkestone
Outer Hebrides
Namibia
Moon
Mars
Alpha Centauri
Polaris
Andromeda
etc..

don't you think it may be 13,000 people 'trying' to order a second, thats why it didn't work for a lot of people...??

I got the same reply, good to know we all get that personal touch eh?

Kinda frustrating they didnt answer my questions directly - but once again, O2 customer service fails again... Actually, I shouldn't say that, usually the guys who answer the phones are pretty helpful, it just seems they are being fed the same stale info as its customers...

02 should contact the Guinness book of records with this one. I just don't understand how I managed to get an order confirmation tonight I had all be given up. The whole thing is so strange.
