restore 1.1.1 iPod touch

Friend tried jail breaking her touch but ended up messing up and wants to restore it now. tried connecting it to itunes but won't restore, comes up with an error. told her to do a hard reset but i don't remember how to do it. can anyone help me?

problem solved. i was able to find an article on apple on hown to do a reset.
