I'm selling my 2010 MBP and want to know how do I restore it to factory default. I'm planning on getting 2012 MBA 11.6" or 13.3".
Can MBA run windows 7 thru virtualization software like vmware or parallels ?

Best way to restore is to use internet recovery or the original install discs, boot the machine, erase the drive, and reinstall OSX. Since you don't state what OS you're running it's hard to be exact.

as to the MBA yes it'll run a Win7VM. Not as well as the MBP, and I'd get 8gb of memory if you plan to do that.

Thank you for your reply my current OS is 10.7.4 i.e. Lion on it, it came with original Snow Leopard with disc but I upgraded it to Lion thru app store so how do I reset Lion back to factory default ?

When you power the MBP on hold down either CMD+R which will boot to the recovery screen, or Alt which will show you a boot selection and click on recovery HD.

Once loaded chose your language and you'll get four options. Select Disk Utility first and use that to erase the Lion partition. Quit Disk Utility and you'll be returned to the four options. Select Install Mac OS and follow the on screen prompts.
