I was having issues with CarPlay and Messages and the only way I was able to solve it was to restore and set up as new. Now after syncing all my music, my customer ringtones and SMS tones are gone. How do I resync all those back?

Restore as new - add missing custom ringtones/SMS

If they are .m4r files (they should be) then open two finder windows, one showing the ringtone file and one showing your connected iphone sync window.
Drag the file anywhere over the iphone window and let go.
