So if we may want to restore at some point do we have to do it before friday, whats the deal with that? I see a buncha posts about downloading the old firmware but y, cant u just always hit restore on itunes and its ok? whatll be different on friday and how will i have to restore if i want to after that? Thanks

You can always hit restore in itunes as long as you haven't uploaded the new firmware. I think the concern alot of touch owners have is if they have used jailbreak on their touches and they install the new firmware, the touch could get bricked or in some other way get messed up.. I'm pretty new to this all, but I think that is the concern. Alot of people believe this firmware update, might actually contain something worth while. I guess we will have to wait until Friday..:)
 
Touchers are afraid that if they upgrade and can no longer break it, they have the files necessary to "downgrade" back to the old firmware.

If all else fails, it's generally "better to be safe than sorry".
