Just bought a new hardrive for my new (and first) macbook. So I dont want to sound like a complete noob but I'm assuming I should just install the hardrive then boot with the restore cd? (I have all my data backed up elsewhere so I dont need to clone my HDD or anything)

I've tried looking elsewhere but when i google the subject every article instructs you on how to backup your hdd and do it from that, but i just want a fresh install from my restore disks. Can anyone confirm that installing the HDD and booting from the disk will work? a simple yes or no would do, i just dont want to have to open this thing up, put a hdd in, then find out i need to put in an enclosure or something.

Yes, booting off the first restore disc, by holding the "c" key will bring you to install the OS and all the software, iLife and whatever else you got preinstalled, that was on your macbook when you bought it. Just hit next as the default option is "new install".
