restore "do not show messages"

Hi all, I believe my son accidentally checked a "do not show this message" checkbox and now the warning is not popping up in Time Machine. Is there a way to restore these messages? I know coming from a Windows PC, I could go into the registry. Anything I can do on a Mac?
