Restore DVD's

Not legally. They are licensed for the machine they shipped with. As both are MBPs it might work, but then again it might not. The only way to know for sure would be to try. And hope you don't get sued.
You could always try it, but probably not. Especially since the new restore dvd's ship with Leopard, and the 2.16 shipped with Tiger. But, if you're really nice about it, most of the time the apple store will give you replacement restore discs if you tell them that they're lost or damaged.
