My mom has an iPhone SE 2nd gen and cannot send a group text MMS or a picture message to any non-iMessage device. Obviously this means she cannot send a group text that includes an Android or send a picture message to any Android device. Though to clarify, as I'm sure some of you know, any iPhone that does not use iMessage would fall into this same category, though I know those instances are few and far between. Judging by these complaints, this seems to be a major unresolved issue on Apple's side

I have reset network settings, had the SIM "re-provisioned", even gotten a new SIM from the carrier, toggled airplane mode, tried both on and off wifi, worked endlessly and tirelessly with the carrier, etc. - almost everything under the sun.

After MONTHS of dealing with this, I finally wiped the phone the other night and set it up as "new". Voila! MMS works to Android! Group texts work to Android!

Restore back to her iCloud backup and promptly stops working again.

WHY? Does anybody have a fix for this? Obviously she cannot permanently set up as new as she needs her contacts/settings/photos etc. I don't understand why the backup is somehow screwing this up.
