Restore iPhone 3G

OKay. I fell on my (5th ) iPhone last night! And the screen is smashed... It wont turn on and I want to restore it as iTunes says I should. So I start the restore and when the Apple logo appears along with the time bar under it.. Well it stops just before half way. Any ideas how I can fix this?

You can try a few more times? You sound like you attempted it once only. If however after a few attempts its always stuck at the same place, good luck. Genius beckons.
