Restore iPhone backup to iPod Touch?

So I recently backed up my iPhone 5. Is it possible to do a restore to the latest iPod Touch (5G)? If so, will my iMessages and SMS from my iPhone 5 show up in the Messages of the iPod Touch?

I haven't tried it, but my gut says no that won't work. I guess if you have the iPod touch in hand, give it a shot and see what happens.
