Hi,
Is it possible to restore the iTunes catalogue using the iPod device? My iPod contains an exact copy of what was stored in iTunes. I have my music files on an external harddrive and they are still there: no problem. But my iTunes catalogue (stored in my Windows XP profile) is gone (reason: OS crash). I was wondering if it were possible to:
- install iTunes (with no music);
- attach my iPod to my PC;
- restore all music AND ITS METADATA from the iPod back into iTunes.
I tried it already and it only restores the music I bought on iTunes, not the music I added from CD's or bought somewhere else. As said: I still have the vault with music files on my external harddrive (in tact). It is the catalogue I am trying to recover, i.e. the XML-file describing the music and other accompanying files.
Thanks for any advice.
