Restore macOS bootup chime on TB 15" rMBP?

There was a firmware update that blocked that method and I have not seen any other way to turn the chime back on.
Yeah, don't think there is now.
The only thing I will add, is the idea of having no chime, is that if you have to do a restart (or several restarts!) in a public place (office, coffee shop, cafe, etc.), then you now don't annoy the hell out of everyone around you in the process.
So to be honest, turning it back on is thus rather pointless.
