I have mac pro, 10.6.8, using SSD / with the home folder on a ext. 1tb drive.
Id like to back up the SSD boot (with dummy users folder) and 'restore' this onto the mbp.
I have booted off the mbp disc utility / snow leopard install disc. once restore is complete, when loggin in, an error occurs and it doesnt work. Im assuming theres something going on with having the home folder split. -
If i temporarirly change the home folder location from /external to the SSD drive, would this corrupt / loose data? is it safe? Im guessing this is the problem ?
EDIT - ive created another user account, linked that up with dummy users folder and cloned and will see if this works.
Just want to save time having to not update to 10.6.8 and install all apps again.
