Hi All

I am having an issue with Restore not working in Disk Utility in 10.5.4.

I have the 10.5 client installer on a separate partition on a emac i use to install machines from. [ also have a 10.5 server installer partition].

both work well and install successfully.

if i restore that partition to another drive it goes thru the whole process including verification and right at the end it gives the error message
"operation timed out".

i have previously restore'd to 2.5" external drive from both images [ my on the road installers...].

i cannot recall whether the system was 10.5.2 or 10.5.3.

I have replicated the problem from another machine that had the installer on aswell - [ from a system running 10.5.4]

i will try to replicate this again on another emac running 10.5.2 and then mount the images via target mode and then try to do a restore.

i will update this forum post when i do.

thanks in advance for any help :)

i am trying to recall whether this only worked on 10.4 .....

will try from a 10.4.11 system if the 10.5 doesn't work.. [ now where is a box that i hav 10.4 on... ??? ]

another update.

worked fine from a machine running 10.4.10 :apple:

and yes i have installed successfully from the new partition :)

must be a leopard issue - as didnt wk with 10.5.0 either

can any apple staff / dev's confirm this is a known issue?

cheers

You should file a bug report with Apple.

I don't think the feature is broken entirely, since I think that is what I used to migrate my system to a brand new hard drive, and it worked.
