UPDATE
I opened the sms.db file from the backup in textpad and compared to a "vanilla" sms.db file from the iphone. I removed some stuff in the beginning of the file, and it worked! something like:
bplist00ÔTPathWVersionTDataXGreylist_Library/SMS/sms.dbS1.0OÌ
and put in an S and e so it started with
SQLite format 3
Hi!
I surfed with safari on my iPhone, and it hung. Hold home button and lock button to reboot the iphone, but SMS messages was gone! Everything else was there, contacts, cookies, settings, calendar entries etc... (While the iPhone was frozen I tried to send an sms message to it!)
Anyway, I connected iPhone up to iTunes hoping to restore the sms messages. It synced, but didn't copy over the backup SMS.db file, and I lost my backup of the sms history.
Luckily I copied C:\Users\gambler\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup to a temp location and found a 52KByte large file named 0b1fe6f87c054ebb6d00cfafb6bacd343a7f6fa1.mdbackup that contained the sms messages.
I tried to rename it to sms.db and copy it over with SSH to ...\mobile\library\sms and ...\library\sms
I opened sms app on iPhone and the SMS app seemed to restart, but no messages. The sms.db file on my iPhone was back to "empy state," 13KB large.
SHORT VERSION
Is there another option to get copy over SMS messages?
Windows Vista Ultimate
Dell XPS M1530
iPhone 8GB Jailbroken 1.1.4
iTunes 7.6.2.9
