I have the following issue. I use my private MBpro (High Sierra 2017 TB) currently both for business and private purposes with Outlook, S/MIME etc installed for business, while I use Apple Mail etc for private reasons. Having the corporate level encryption works well. The only downside is that my work requires frequent travel and a maxed out 15inch machine is not ideal and I am also concerned about the wear and tear.

My company has therefore provided a 13inch MBpro for me to set up and play with. As I like the configuration of my current system, my question is whether I can simply build the new 13inch machine from restoring an existing Time Machine back-up for the 15inch and then simply a) rename the computer to avoid confusion when having both machines in the same network going forward and b) remove those private apps I do not need on the 13inch.

As I have never done this, I wonder if this should work or whether I should run into any problems on one or the other machines. Licences for apps should be fine as office etc has a 5 machine limit or something.

All the best
