i had an old black macbook that ran tiger or leopard (can't check) that died by way of a kernel panic...thankfully i had done two things before

1. moved my photos to an iMac
2. backed up on time machine

so now i have to figure out what to do next.....

i have an iMac running snow leopard (10.6.8)
and
i have a macbook air running lion (10.7.1)

neither one has been set up with time capsule yet but i have been using both machines

i have read that if i restore data to my iMac, i will lose old back ups on time machine as it is not running lion and i like it in snow leopard for now

what i want is for all my data (pics, music, docs) to be on my iMac and to use my mb air for travel + internet + email

any clue what i should do? i have about 15,000 songs in iTunes + flip videos avi files that i am most concerned about on the TC

scared to start anything as i can not lose any of my data on my time capsule

any help would be most appreciated!
