How do I "reinstall" OSX?

I rebooted pressing the option key and choosing Recovery disk.

Then I go into the Disk Utility and get to the restore option (forget the exact name) but it gives me two options on the left:

The full physical drive
-- Macintosh HD

then

disk1
-- Mac OS X Base System

I try to use it as the source and make the destination the Mac HD but when I click restore it tells me that to use this disk as a source, restart your computer using the recovery system, and open the disk utility again.

But I thought I already did that?

edit: I actually already re-installed Lion off the net using that option but it just kept everything I had on the disk from before lol
